About

The Love of Grass Treks are all about learning and knowing about plants and their association with ecological zones and to be able to identify them in the
future.

A group of former USDA Plant Materials Specialists plan these trips annually (for the most part). This gives us all the opportunity for a fun vacation with friends pursuing our love of plants.

On one of our treks throughout the United States, as many as a dozen sites may be inventoried.

At each site, the intent is to identify every plant within a ‘reasonable’ area, consisting of one to several acres, and leave only when satisfied that this had been accomplished. Sample of plants that cannot be identified are taken home for more intense identification.

The accumulated information, including pictures, is assembled into a report, and made available to Trek members and posted here.

Miles to travel and darkness were our primary enemies.
